This Thing Rocks!
As someone who actually gets excited about organizing and labeling things, I feel compelled to tout how much I like this little printer. I do technical work and run a department with many little parts we organize in hundreds of parts bins...I was looking for a label maker to create labels for these..this one is perfect. Create your own custom layout with their software (I have a Mac and had no problem at all with the software), then label away. I've used/owned many label machines, from basic office store type to industrial ones for labeling wires and cable. This Dymo 450 is so much better than a cartridge P-Touch kind of unit for any office use...much much cheaper than going thru those stupid expensive cartridges just for labeling folders and such..and as I mentioned, you create exactly the format you like on the computer and it spits them out fast and cheap. Print quality is excellent and there are many sizes of print rolls Dymo offers.

Linux compatible, Fedora has built in support
This is the label printer for Linux users. I installed it on Fedora 13 without a hitch, there is a CUPS driver for DYMO Label printers and glabels has Dymo templates. The printer is fast and the quality is OK.

Dymo 450 Meets My Needs
This little label printer meets my needs nicely. It is very easy to set up and use. Now I am labeling everything - letters, file folders, equipment.

Dymo labewriter 450
I purchased this model to replace an older Dyme Labelwriter that stopped working. I find that it works well, I really like this machine. Of course as software enhancements are added, one must adapt to new features which could be a bit annoying till you get the hang of things. My suggestion to Dymo, put up video tutorials to save end users time. I think Dymo is on the right track, they have a great product, and they accept input regarding new features. It's not a big leap to just add an audio visual demo of the products features online. This would save end users from having to read what could amount to an annoying manual.

This could be as simple as a video camera, a tripod, and a person sitting at a computer with a Dymo labelwriter. End users now have an additional path to getting the most out of their Dymo Labelwriter. It's my opinion that many users don't have time or the patience to read instruction manuals. I'd say 50% of end users consequently miss out on some of the more advanced capabilities of these machines because they never read the manual. Every company that misses this boat is missing a great opportunity to connect with it's entire life line, I consider this to be as much as 50% of its market. All in all I recommend this product, it's a great machine!

Not very pleased with this product or DYMO
We have just received our replacement LabelWriter 450 due to a mechanism breaking the first day we had our last one. Now this one keeps jamming after 4 or 5 labels. We are using the sample roll included with the LabelWriter and I want to know what the issue is? I followed the loading directions very carefully and the labels are loaded correctly. There is nothing obstructing the labels, there is nothing around the LabelWriter that can interfere with the labels progress. I am getting very frustrated with your product. Each label retracts 1/4" back into device prior to printing, in order to "reset the printer head," as tech support explained. Problem is that in doing so the labels on the strip catch on the serrated teeth in the slot, causing a loud snapping sound which also puts teeth marks on the label's edge. Removing the front cover to deal with paper jams is horrible, I am constantly afraid I am going to snap a plastic tab off and break it. Per tech support, I was advised to clean my band new printer with the freebie cleaning card. I did so and there is not an improvment. Now I am getting another replacement directly from their warehouse. Can't wait to see the fun and games I have with the next one.
